KAYA LEATHER STUDIO — TERMS OF SERVICE
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form an agreement between you and Kaya Leather Studio ("Kaya," "we," "us"). They apply whenever you browse our website, place an order online or in the studio, commission a custom piece, book a repair, or attend a workshop. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not place an order or use our services. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded by agreement.
2. Our Products
Every Kaya piece is cut, stitched, and finished by hand using genuine leather and cowhide, with suede options available across much of our range and full-grain leather available on request or on selected pieces. Leather is a natural material: grain, tone, and markings vary from hide to hide, and slight variations in stitching or edge finishing are characteristics of handwork, not defects. Product photography shows a representative example, and colour may render differently across screens. We make in small batches; if an item sells out after you order, we will contact you with the option of a remake, an alternative, or a full refund.
3. Custom Orders
Our custom service covers bespoke sizing, modifications to designs from our existing catalogue (such as hardware, leather, and dimensions), and made-to-order pieces based on a design supplied by you. We do not offer monogramming or original design commissions. Where you supply your own design, we can advise on sizing, hardware, and leather selection, but responsibility for the design itself remains with you.
Quote and approval. Before any work begins, we will work through the full design specification with you — including leather selection, hardware, dimensions, and estimated turnaround time — and provide a written summary for your approval. Production will not commence until you have approved the final specification.
Deposit. Once the design is approved, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the quoted price is required. Production begins once your deposit has cleared; please allow 3–4 business days for funds to process. The deposit secures your place in our production queue and covers materials, and is not refundable if you cancel after production has commenced.
Final approval and balance. When your piece is complete, we will send you photographs for final approval before dispatch. The remaining 50% balance is payable once you have confirmed approval, and your order will be shipped after the balance has cleared.
Revisions. Revisions requested after production has begun are handled as follows: minor changes (such as hardware or sizing adjustments) may incur an additional fee, determined by the materials involved; a change of leather requires the piece to be remade and a further 50% deposit. Please note that every revision extends the production timeline.
Returns. As custom pieces are made to your specification, they cannot be returned or refunded for change of mind. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including guarantees relating to faulty workmanship, apply in full.
4. Pricing and Payment
All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST unless stated otherwise. We accept major credit and debit cards, PayPal, and bank transfer for commissions. Payment is processed securely by third-party providers; we do not store your full card details. If a clear pricing error occurs, we may cancel the affected order and refund you in full before dispatch. Quotes for custom work are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.

All orders include tracking. A signature may be required for higher-value deliveries.
If your parcel arrives damaged, please contact us within 4 days of delivery and provide photographs of the packaging and item.
International customers are responsible for any applicable customs duties, taxes, or import fees imposed by their local authorities.
Delivery timeframes are estimates only and may vary due to customs processing, carrier delays, or other factors outside our control.
6. Returns, Refunds & Exchanges
As every Kaya bag is handmade to order, we only accept return and refund requests for items that have been damaged or defective as a result of production.
All requests must be submitted within 4 days of receiving your package to contact@kayaleather-studio.com, with your full name, order number, photos of the item, and a clear description of the issue. Any request made after this period will not be accepted.
If approved, the item must be shipped back to our headquarters in Vietnam at the customer's expense. We do not cover return postage under any circumstances.
Please note that we do not accept returns or refunds for wrong colours or variants selected by the customer at the time of ordering, or for damage incurred during shipping. Exchanges are available for an item of equal value. Monetary refunds, where approved, are processed within 3–4 business days.
7. Care and Material Character
Leather is a living material that develops character with use. Smooth and full-grain leathers will soften and deepen in tone over time; suede will naturally show wear in high-contact areas. Keep all leathers away from prolonged moisture — if a piece gets wet, let it dry naturally away from heat. Condition smooth leathers sparingly with a quality leather balm; for suede, use a suede brush and protector spray rather than creams or balms. Some colour transfer onto light fabrics is normal during the first weeks of use, particularly with suede and darker dyes. Damage caused by misuse, neglect, solvents, or modifications by third parties is not covered by our warranty.
8. Warranty and Repairs
Kaya Leather Studio does not offer a formal warranty or free repair service. If you believe your item has a production defect, please refer to our Refund & Returns Policy and submit a request within 4 days of receiving your order.
For repairs beyond that window, we may be able to assist depending on the nature and scope of the work required. Any repair is subject to assessment by our leather makers in Vietnam and will be quoted on a case-by-case basis. Repair services are not guaranteed and are offered at our discretion. Shipping costs to and from our studio are the responsibility of the customer.

9. Workshops and Classes
Kaya Leather Studio does not currently offer workshops or classes.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on our website and in our patterns — designs, photographs, text, templates, and the Kaya name and maker's mark — belongs to Kaya Leather Studio. You may not reproduce our designs for commercial purposes without written permission. For custom commissions, you grant us the right to photograph the finished piece for our portfolio and marketing unless you ask us not to in writing before completion. Printed patterns supplied in workshops are for personal use only.
11. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of our products is limited to resupplying the goods or services or refunding the amount paid. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in this section excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria. We will always try to resolve concerns directly first — write to us and we will respond within five business days.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force when you place an order applies to that order. Material changes will be flagged on this page with a revised effective date, and continued use of our site or services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
